Embrace the Message: Understanding Nervous System Regulation

In the whirlwind of today’s world, there’s a lot of buzz around nervous system regulation—and for good reason. More and more people are seeking ways to learn how to regulate their nervous systems, which is fantastic! But here’s the thing: dysregulation isn’t your enemy. It’s not a problem to be fixed. In fact, it’s a crucial messenger, signaling that a part of you needs your attention.

From a young age, many of us were taught to disconnect from our intuition, our feelings, and the somatic signals our bodies send us. This disconnection means we don’t know how to read or process our own signals, leading to energy getting trapped in our bodies. Over time, this can result in chronic dysregulation.

But here’s the truth: dysregulation is simply information—a messenger from you to you. It’s telling you that there are emotions, experiences, or energies that need to be felt, processed, or moved. The goal of nervous system regulation isn’t to stay calm and “regulated” all the time; it’s about learning to read your own signals, staying connected to your body, and allowing yourself to feel, process, and act.

You don’t need to be in a perfectly regulated state 24/7. Instead, focus on becoming more aware and attuned to your body’s signals. Listen to them. Act on them. Give yourself permission to take a break, to cry when you need to, to set boundaries, or to shake off adrenaline. True balance comes from connection to Self, which ultimately leads to a more regulated and harmonious experience in life.

So, don’t fear dysregulation. Embrace it as a sign that your body is communicating with you, guiding you toward the deeper connection you deserve.
